Tunisian License Plate Format

Tunisian vehicle registration plates use white characters on black background for identification of vehicles registered in Tunisia. Issued by Agence Technique des Transports Terrestres. Aluminum material. Format consists of 3-digit series number, word “Tunisia” in Arabic script (تونس), and 4-digit vehicle registration number. First three digits designate series, last four digits denote number of vehicle registrations in series. Series changes when exceeding 9999 vehicles. Tunisia registers average 50,000 new vehicles yearly, typically issuing five series of plates per year. Each series refers to a year indicating vehicle age.

Black on white background, format 46 CD س د 02 (2 digits + CD + Arabic + 2 digits). CD stands for Corps Diplomatique. Both plates mandatory.

Black on white background, format XX MD د ب XX (2 digits + MD + Arabic + 2 digits). MD stands for Mission Diplomatique. Both plates mandatory.

Temporary Registration

Dealer Testing

Black on yellow background, format XXXXX ع ع (5 digits + Arabic letters ع ع). For vehicles in testing by dealers. Both plates mandatory.
