ANPR for Serbia

Serbian License Plate Format

Serbian vehicle registration plates display black alphanumeric characters on white background with blue field along left side edge. Current plates introduced January 1, 2011 (used alongside old plates during transitional period until end of 2011). Format consists of two-letter regional code followed by three or four-digit numeric code, separated by Serbian cross shield with Cyrillic letter combination for region below, then two-letter alpha code separated by hyphen. Blue field on left bears SRB (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country code for Serbia), as in EU countries. Standard dimensions 520.5×112.9mm, aluminum material. Numeric code uses digits 0-9, two-letter alpha code uses Serbian Latin alphabet plus letter X. Since 2017 special “hooked” letters (Ć, Č, Š, Ž, Đ) and letters Y, W no longer issued.

Yellow on black for diplomats and accredited staff, black on yellow for foreign organizations. Format 12/123-L-456 with a status letter (A, M, P).

Green background, regional code and Serbian cross shield on upper side, two numbers and three letters on lower side

Mopeds

Yellow background, two-letter regional code and Serbian cross shield on upper side, two and three numbers on lower side

Motorcycles

White background, two-letter regional code and Serbian cross shield on upper side, two and three numbers on lower side

Historic/Classic Vehicles

White background, two-letter regional code and Serbian cross shield on upper side, OT (“old-timers”) as serial letters plus numbers on lower side

Taxis

Almost identical format to civilian plates, regional code first, Serbian cross shield, numbers, TX as serial letters

Trailers

Reversed format of civilian plates, serial letters first, Serbian cross shield, then numbers and regional code

Police

Blue background, letter П (P in Cyrillic), Serbian cross shield, six numbers

Military

One letter, emblem of Serbian Armed Forces (identical to Serbian cross shield), four numbers
