Iraqi License Plate Format
Iraqi vehicle registration plates use standard European size (520×110mm). Current design result of negotiations between Federal Government and Kurdistan Regional Government to unify design across country. Plates in Latin alphabet and Western Arabic numerals (replacing old Arabic and Eastern Arabic numerals). Current format issued since April 2022 in four Kurdistan Region governorates, rest of Iraq followed June 2024.

Current unified format introduced April 2022 (Kurdistan Region) and June 2024 (rest of Iraq). Format GG X NNNNN where GG = governorate code (11-29), X = letter, NNNNN = 5 digits. Kurdistan governorates (21-24) display KR designation below IRQ on left vertical band.
