Hong Kong License Plate Format
Hong Kong vehicle registration plates, officially termed “registration marks,” are unique alphanumeric identifiers issued by Transport Department. Standard format features two letters followed by up to four digits. Plates follow British system coloring: black characters on white reflective background (front), black on yellow reflective (rear), complying with BS AU145a standard.

Hong Kong registration plates with the AM prefix followed by numerals, issued to government-operated vehicles
Legislative Council
Hong Kong registration plates with the LC prefix followed by numerals, issued to vehicles assigned to the Legislative Council
Village
VV prefix for small vehicles on narrow paths, numerals may have leading zeros, used on Lantau and Lamma Islands (e.g., VV 001)
Trailer
Registration plates consisting of up to five digits followed by the letter T as a suffix, issued for semi-trailers (e.g., 12345 T)
