Croatian License Plate Format

Croatian vehicle registration plates feature black characters on white background with the Croatian coat of arms (red-white checkerboard shield) centrally positioned between the regional code and the number-letter combination. Since July 2016, plates include a blue EU vertical stripe on the left displaying 12 EU stars and country code HR. Standard metal plates measuring 520×110mm.

Customized/Personalized

Black text on white background, two types: (1) standard format with personally chosen combination, or (2) 4-7 letter word or 4-5 letter word + 1-2 numbers, EU stripe

Oversized Vehicles

Red text on white background, same format as standard plates for trucks and vehicles that may be oversized for smaller roads, EU stripe

Yellow text on green background, format RH NNN-XX (RH = Republika Hrvatska + numbers + letters)

Dealer Test

Sticker plates (not metal), format AB NNNNN (regional code + coat of arms + 5 digits in two groups), valid for limited days

Transferable

Black text on white background, format AB-PP-NNN or AB-PP-NNNN (PP = prijenosne pločice/transferable plates), EU stripe

Historic Vehicles

Black text on white background, format AB-PV-NNN or AB-PV-NNNN (PV = povijesno vozilo/historical vehicle), EU stripe
