Cambodian License Plate Format

Cambodian vehicle license plates display the province name where the vehicle was registered in both Khmer (top) and English (bottom). The current format, introduced April 1, 2004, consists of one class number, one or two Latin letters, and four digits (0001-9999). Blue text on white background is standard. Owners must register vehicles in their residential province, which may differ from official residence. If title transfers to someone in a different province, the number usually changes. When Phnom Penh numbers are exhausted, additional letters are added (e.g., 1 AA 0001 to 1 AA 9999, then 1 AB 0001); motorcycle plates began this system in 2012.

C LL-NNNN (1 class digit + 1–2 Latin letters + 4 digits from 0001 to 9999)

Script

Latin alphabet, Arabic numerals. Province names appear in Khmer script and Latin alphabet.

Province Codes

Province identification is provided by the province name printed on the plate: Banteay Meanchey (ប.មានជ័យ), Battambang (បាត់ដំបង), Kampong Cham (កំពង់ចាម), Kampong Chhnang (កំពង់ឆ្នាំង), Kampong Speu (កំពង់ស្ពឺ), Kampong Thom (កំពង់ធំ), Kampot (កំពត), Kandal (កណ្ដាល), Kep (កែប), Koh Kong (កោះកុង), and others

Yellow Khmer letters and numbers on blue background, format រន ### (2 Khmer letters រន + 3 digits)
