Ukrainian License Plate Format
Ukrainian vehicle registration plates are rectangular with black text on white background. The left side features a blue and yellow vertical band displaying the national coat of arms and country code “UA”. Current system introduced in 2004 (modified 2015). Plates use Cyrillic characters with glyphs resembling Roman alphabet letters to comply with Vienna Convention on Road Traffic.

Black on white, format XX 1234 XX with suffix beginning with X, issued in reverse alphabetical order (XX, XT, XP, XO…)

White on blue background, format with regional code and serial numbers, 2004 and 2015 versions
Military
White on black background, various formats including sized plates for different vehicles
Vanity/Cherished Plates
Black on white, special combinations with triple leading zeros or all identical digits. Owner can choose any unassigned suffix within registration region
Individualized/Personalized
Black on white, custom Cyrillic or Roman letters plus digits, optional custom image on right side, nationwide without regional coding, cannot be used abroad
Diplomatic
Black on white, format D 123456 (D + 6 digits), first 3 digits identify country/organization (001-199 embassies, 200-299 international organizations, 300-399 consulates), last 3 digits are serial number
