North Macedonia’s License Plate Format

North Macedonia’s vehicle registration plates consist of two-letter region code, followed by 4-digit numeric and 2-letter alpha code. Issuance of new plates started 20 February 2012, introducing fourth digit and blue field on left side. Standard dimensions 520×110mm. International country code NMK applied (formerly MK) on blue field on left side of plate since February 2019 in accordance with Prespa agreement which changed country’s name to Republic of North Macedonia. NMK is mixture of English (North) and Macedonian (Македонија). Red and yellow badge appears between area code and numeric part, containing equivalent Cyrillic letters to four Latin letters.
