Latvian License Plate Format
Latvian vehicle registration plates consist of two letters (trailers have one letter), hyphen, and one to four numbers depending on age of registration. Current plates have black characters on white reflective background. EU member with standard EU format.

Trailers/Semi-trailers
White background with black text, format L-NNNN or L-NNNL (1 letter + 3-4 digits, or 1 letter + 3 digits + 1 letter since 2020s) (e.g., A-1234)
Personalized
White background with black text, 2-8 symbols (letters, numbers, spaces), same symbol max 3 times consecutively, €2,500 fee (e.g., XXXIXXX)
Diplomatic Corps
Red background with black text, format CD-NNNN or C-NNNN (CD or C prefix = Corps Diplomatique), first 2 digits = country code (e.g., CD-1234)
Vintage Cars
White background with black text, VS prefix = Vēsturiskais Spēkrats (Historic Vehicle) (e.g., VS-1234)
Electric Vehicles
White background with light blue text, format LL-NNNN (e.g., EX-1234)
Electric Taxis
Yellow background with light blue text, format TX-NNNN (e.g., TX-1234 in light blue)
