Greek License Plate Format
Greek vehicle registration plates composed of three letters and four digits (e.g., ΑΑΑ-1000) printed in black on white background. Letters represent district (prefecture) issuing plates, numbers range 1000-9999. Blue EU strip added 2004 showing GR code and EU flag. Letters are Latin characters matching Greek alphabet shapes per Vienna Convention requirement.

City/Region Code
The first one or two letters indicate the prefecture of first registration.
Ι, Υ, Ζ – Athens (Attica), Θ – Thessaloniki, ΑΧ – Achaia (Patras), ΗΡ – Heraklion, ΡΟ – Rhodes, ΚΕ – Corfu (Kerkyra), ΚΗ – Chania, ΜΕ – Messinia, ΑΡ – Argolida, ΛΑ – Laconia, and other prefecture codes.

Blue background with white text, format ΔΣ NN CD where NN = country code (e.g., ΔΣ 48 CD for Dutch Embassy)
Historic Vehicles (IO)
White with blue text, Ιστορικά Οχήματα, 5 digits, since 2023 (e.g., IO 12345)
Test/Dealer (ΔΟΚ)
Δοκιμαστικές – interchangeable on dealer stock vehicles
