Belarusian License Plate Format
Belarusian vehicle registration plates consist of four digits (vehicle identifier), two letters (series), and a final digit indicating the region where the vehicle was registered. The format varies by vehicle class: 1234 AB-5 for cars and motorcycles, AB 1234-5 for trucks and buses, A1234B-5 for trailers. Letters used are confined to those appearing in both Belarusian Cyrillic and Latin alphabets.

Special Plate Types in Belarus
Diplomatic (CD)
Red background with white characters. Format: CD followed by 4 digits, hyphen, and regional code (e.g., CD 1234/-7). The first 2 digits identify the country or international organization.
Consular (CC)
Red background with white characters. Format: CC followed by 4 digits, hyphen, and regional code (e.g., CC 1234/-7). Identical format to diplomatic plates.
Temporary/Transit
Plates use a distinct non-standard format that includes a letter “T” indicating transit/temporary status, combined with letters, digits, and a regional identifier (e.g. 7AB T 1234). Used only for a limited validity period and not for permanent registration.
Taxi
Yellow background with black characters. Format: digit, followed by “TAX”, space, and 4 digits (e.g., 7 TAX 1234).
Ministry of Internal Affairs
Red background with white characters. Format: 4 digits followed by space and letters “MH” (e.g., 1234 MH). MH indicates Ministry of Internal Affairs vehicles.
State Border Committee
Green background with white characters. Format: 4 digits followed by space and letters “ПВ” (Cyrillic, e.g., 1234 ПВ). Used by State Border Committee vehicles.
