Australian vehicle registration plates are issued by state and territory governments. Plates are associated with a vehicle and intended to last during the vehicle’s registered time in that state. Standard dimensions are 372mm x 134mm. Each state has its own numbering system and format, with no national uniformity except for National Heavy Vehicle plates introduced 2018-2019.
